October 11th is Let Freedom Read Day!
You can celebrate by reading a book that someone tried to censor at Jefferson-Madison Regional Library. Here are a few to consider:

Mr. Watson’s Chickens by Jarrett Dapier and illustrated by Andrea Tsurumi
Great for any readers who love humor and illustrations that are packed with interesting details. My favorite part was the two-page spread illustrating the chicken’s causing havoc at the farmer’s market.

Julian is a Mermaid by Jessica Love
Gorgeous illustrations ignite this book about a young boy’s imagination and his supportive abuela.

When Aidan Became a Brother by Kyle Lukoff and Kaylani Juanita
I loved the direct, straight-forward language of this picture book, as well as it’s child-centered focus around what it means to become a brother.
