A 2024 Schneider Family Book Award Honor Middle Grade winner, Meg Eden Kuyatt’s Good Different is a propulsive, uplifting novel-in-verse. Seventh-grader Selah doesn’t feel quite human (is she part-dragon) but is making things work at her small familiar private school. However, this year it all starts to become a bit overwhelming and something has got to give. Selah’s mother insists that “there’s nothing wrong with Selah” while her grand-dad insists “there’s nothing wrong with being different.” Caught between these two viewpoints, Selah must find her own voice. An excellent coming of age story for any square peg.
